Trump Fires Barrage of Angry Tweets at Mueller: ‘Conflicted Prosecutor Gone Rogue’

Mueller accuses Manafort of breaking plea agreement by lying

Trump's tweet this morning seems to try to shift blame away from Manafort and toward Robert Mueller, which could intentionally be a means of setting his base up for a future pardon.

Even though Mueller's team alleges he's breached his plea agreement, Manafort must comply with the prosecutors' demands going forward.

While Cooper noted that Manafort's lawyers contend he didn't lie, Toobin said Mueller seems quite sure he did, adding, "the fact that Mueller's office blew this agreement up in this way suggests they must have a pretty good reason for thinking he's lying to them".

Prosecutors don't lightly accuse people of breaching a cooperation agreement, said Mimi Rocah, a former federal prosecutor.

"The Fake News Media builds Bob Mueller up as a Saint, when in actuality he is the exact opposite". He is doing TREMENDOUS damage to our Criminal Justice System, where he is only looking at one side and not the other.

"Heroes will come of this, and it won't be Mueller and his bad Gang of Angry Democrats".

Manafort states as part of the filing that he does not agree with prosecutor's description.

"Let these awful people go back to the Clinton Foundation and "Justice" Department", he fumed.

Monday's court filing did not go into detail about what exactly Manafort allegedly lied about, and the special counsel said it would submit a more detailed sentencing submission that "sets forth the nature of the defendant's crimes and lies, including those after signing the plea agreement" at a later date.

Manafort was a long-time Republican political consultant who made tens of millions of dollars working for pro-Kremlin politicians in Ukraine before joining the Trump campaign in March 2016, promising to work for free.

The judge in DC District Court who received the update Monday night has not yet weighed in, and a sentencing for Manafort's guilty plea has not yet been scheduled.

They said he "committed federal crimes by lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Counsel's Office on a variety of subject matters, which constitute breaches of the agreement". Had Manafort provided "substantial assistance" to prosecutors, they could recommend a reduction in the 10-year term he faced under the deal. Except for one aspect of their bank fraud case, in which Manafort appeared to dangle access to the Trump campaign in exchange for a bank loan, the cases did not publicly describe Manafort's work as campaign chairman.

Trump is, without mentioning names, seemingly playing Manfort and others off to be victims and "heroes" for "refusing to lie", while also calling Mueller "conflicted" and saying he has "gone rogue".
