Report Teams interested in trading for Packers S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

Things are different under new general manager Brian Gutekunst, who followed his departure from Thompson's philosophy of standing pat at the trade deadline by holding a news conference Wednesday morning at Lambeau Field.

LANDOVER, MD - SEPTEMBER 23: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix #21 of the Green Bay Packers looks on against the Washington Redskins at FedExField on September 23, 2018 in Landover, Maryland.

The Green Bay Packers dealt safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to the Washington Redskins for a 2019 fourth-round pick and sent running back Ty Montgomery to the Baltimore Ravens for a 2020 seventh-round pick at the National Football League trading deadline Tuesday.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Packers will get a 7th round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Washington has started D.J. Swearinger (four interceptions this season) and Montae Nicholson at safety for all seven games this season.

The Packers downgraded substantially at free safety by parting with Clinton-Dix, to Jermaine Whitehead.

Clinton-Dix, 25, is in the final year of his rookie contract.

Gutekunst said the Packers plan to be "active" in free agency next year. So will defensive coordinator Mike Pettine.

That's some pretty incredible value for a fourth-round pick, especially when you consider that the Eagles' current starting free safety, Avonte Maddox, was also selected using a fourth-round pick.

And granted, it's not like the Redskins stole Clinton-Dix out from under the Eagles, as there's no evidence the team even inquired about his services, but for the low, low price of a fourth-round pick, I would much rather see the 26-year-old Pro Bowler suit up in midnight green as opposed to red and yellow moving forward.

Did the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions just wave the white flag in the NFC North, a division the Bears now lead and hope to claim as their own for the first time since 2010?

Montgomery admitted on Monday that he made a mistake by taking the ball out.
