No. 2 Ohio State stumbles at Purdue, gets blown out

Purdue football cheerleaders

The bad news from Saturday night's game at Purdue just got a little worse for the Buckeyes.

The Boilermakers (4-3, 3-1 Big Ten) won their fourth straight overall, their second in a row over a ranked team and pulled off their biggest upset since taking down then-No. That's all they can do at this point.

"Purdue came out and played at a pretty high level, but also they got some help from Ohio State, who did not play very well", Palm said. "Number one, off the top, is our red zone offense". One of the few positives from the game against Purdue was the fact that he had back-to-back games of 100 receiving yards. But teams ranked No. 2 in the country with aspirations of playing for the national championship do not expect to lose by four touchdowns to a team that lost to Eastern Michigan.

"He doesn't look the way he's looked since he's been at Ohio State", Herbstreit said on "The Dan Patrick Show" Monday.

"That's a big loss", coach Urban Meyer said Tuesday. So another week of rest could do wonders for the wide receiver as next week we could get a more serious update on Black's return. "Things are going to happen in rivalry games, but I sort of stand by what I said yesterday". David Blough is 135 of 224 (60.3 percent) with 1,951 yards, 13 touchdowns and only two interceptions since replacing the injured Elijah Sindelar as the starting quarterback in Week 3.

Ohio State's loss to Purdue was another reminder not to prematurely eliminate one-loss teams such as Oklahoma from the conversation - and Ohio State might not be the last undefeated team to fall.

To summarize: Roughly two hours before kickoff Saturday, Michigan State players followed their tradition of walking the field arm in arm.

Quarterback Dwayne Haskins put up huge numbers with 49 completions in 73 attempts for 470 yards and two touchdowns.

The Wolverines can't move up too much, but they will have chances to do that against the Nittany Lions and Buckeyes next month.

"They gave us a time: 'It'll be at 9:45.' Said, 'OK, great.' Then, 'Well, it might be 9:55. now it is going to be 9:55, ' a day later".

MI added another touchdown late to make it 21-7 and that's how things would end. By winning Saturday at Michigan State, the Boilermakers could cement their status as a surprise conference contender heading into November when they host No. 18 Iowa and No. 20 Wisconsin with visits to Minnesota and rival Indiana.
