Search expands for U.S. girl missing after parents found dead

FBI Adds Wisconsin Teen Whose Parents Were Shot To Death To Their Most Wanted Missing List

Also Monday, the sheriff called for 2,000 volunteers to help in a ground search set to start Tuesday morning.

Fitzgerald did not have license plate numbers for the vehicles. They've investigated more than 1,000 of those tips.

The sheriff reiterated he believes 14-year-old Closs is still in danger.

According to Barron County Sheriff's Department dispatch records, a 911 call was received from inside the house by Denise Closs' cell phone with only yelling in the background just before 1 a.m. October 15.

An Amber Alert was issued for Jayme on the day she disappeared, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation has added her to its online list of kidnapped or missing people. Closs, a missing teenage girl, could be in danger after two adults were found dead at a home in Barron, Wis., on October 15, 2018.

This comes after an initial search by 100 volunteers on Thursday.

"They are the experts in breaking down 911 tapes, looking at our phones and taking care of all evidence in that manner", he said.

In the week since she vanished, over 1,200 tips have been submitted, the sheriff's office said. The agency began posting information about the teen on digital billboards around the country. Fitzgerald said Saturday that under an Amber Alert, a person does not have to be considered abducted.

The sheriff's office on Friday released dispatch logs that indicate responding deputies found that multiple gunshots were fired in the home, and the door was kicked in.

The call was "pinged" to the Closs' home.

"An entire state has been racked with Jayme's disappearance, and the death of her parents", Wisconsin state Attorney General Brad Schimel said in a statement.

The gun used to kill the Closs parents has not been located.

Meanwhile, Jayme's classmates planned a "Gathering of Hope" which will take place Monday evening at Riverview Middle School in Barron. There will be music, resources for families, and spiritual and emotional care.
