Teenager Prithvi Shaw roars at Rajkot with Test century on debut

India vs West Indies,Rishabh Pant,Pant Birthday

Jadeja benefited from a dropped catch when he was 1 not out and pushed India beyond 600 in the 141st over.

If India is banking on the "tinge of green", West Indies also has the likes of Shannon Gabriel and Jason Holder, who could certainly prove effective on a tad bouncy surface.

Prithvi Shaw (134), skipper Virat Kohli (139) and Ravindra Jadeja (100 not out) scored hundreds, while Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishab Pant and Ravindra Jadeja hit the fifties. In the first session, skipper Virat Kohli brought up his 24th Test century while wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant missed out on one after a blistering 92 as India raced to 506/5. Only two batsmen, Lokesh Rahul (0) and Ravichandran Ashwin (7), got out without posting double-digit scores.

Leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo picked up a four-wicket haul but leaked 217 runs from a marathon 54-over spell while debutant fast bowler Sherman Lewis ended with two for 93.

While India is set to go with five bowlers, questions remain whether the Rajkot wicket-which has the history of offering bucketful of runs-will help the bowlers much.

Continuing from their overnight scores of 72 and 17 respectively, Kohli and Rishab Pant plunder runs at will against a listless Windies bowling attack.

India made 143 runs in the afternoon session, scoring at close to 4.5 runs an over.

Kohli became the quickest batsman to reach 24 Test centuries after the great Donald Bradman.

Every time Jadeja reaches the fifty-run mark, he does a special sword celebration.

Left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav took 5-57 as the Windies were dismissed for 196 in 50.5 overs, meaning India won by an innings and 272 runs, beating their previous record by 10 runs.

This is his fourth Test hundred, after 153 against South Africa at Centurion, 149 against England vs Birmingham and 103 vs England at Nottingham.
