Trump calls Kavanaugh allegations 'scary time' for men

"That is a very, very hard standard", Trump said.

"We're in the midst of a manufacturing renaissance - something which nobody thought you'd hear", Trump said in a speech to the National Electrical Contractors Association Convention a day after celebrating the new North American trade deal. Depending on how Republicans perform on November 6, the eyes of the nation could fall on a November 27 MS runoff in what could become an expensive and high-profile race to determine control of the Senate.

"I don't remember", he replied in the Ford voice.

All signs suggest Democratic women are energised by opposition to Mr Trump's presidency and the primary season yielded record numbers of female candidates.

"I tell myself, 'You give a little leeway because of what he's been through.' But on the other hand, we can't have this on the court. It doesn't necessarily have to be a woman", Trump said.

Trump was more prudent, however, when asked about the outcome of the upcoming Senate vote on whether to approve Kavanaugh for the highest United States court.

It marked an aggressive change of tactics after Trump had opted to show restraint towards Christine Blasey Ford, calling her a "very credible witness" following her Senate testimony against Judge Brett Kavanaugh last week.

"Hopefully, as Mitch said, they'll have a vote by the end of the week and it will be a positive vote", he said. "I thought her testimony was very compelling, and she looks like a very fine woman to me, very fine woman", Trump said of Ford while speaking to reporters on Friday.

Republicans control the Senate by a 51-49 margin. "'I had one beer, '" he began. "The Senate will vote on Judge Kavanaugh here, on this floor, this week", McConnell told the chamber.

In last week's hearing, Blasey Ford said Judge witnessed Kavanaugh's alleged assault and jumped on top of them as it happened, sending all 3 tumbling and allowing her to escape. The fourth, Deborah Ramirez, accuses Kavanaugh of thrusting his exposed penis in her face at a college party. She testified that Kavanaugh pinned her on a bed, tried to take off her clothes and covered her mouth in the early 1980s, when the two were teenagers.

The North Carolina State University professor, who said he had contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation with his information, indicated in a statement Sunday, September 30, that Kavanaugh was "belligerent and aggressive" when he drank.

He launched into a hypothetical riff about a young man who got a job at IBM or General Motors but is falsely accused of sexual assault.
