Eric Trump says Bob Woodward wrote book to make "shekels"

U.S. President Donald Trump

Woodward's account was reinforced by an anonymous op-ed by a senior administration official published last week in The New York Times that described staffers working to stave off Trump's destructive instincts. Conspicuously absent however, is any reference to two of Trump's biggest donors, namely, Sheldon Adelson and Bernard Marcus, who are also the board members of the Likudist Republican Jewish Committee.

On Monday, Trump called Woodward "a liar who is like a Dem operative prior to the Midterms" following an appearance by Woodward on NBC's "Today" show.

Sanders said it's up to the Justice Department to make that determination.

"The primary objective of the letter was to request and look to schedule another meeting with the president, which we are open to and are already in the process of coordinating that", Sanders said at her first press briefing in almost three weeks. But she ruled out the possibility that lie detector tests would be used in the search, as pro-Trump senator Rand Paul has suggested and vice-president Mike Pence volunteered to undergo. "Frankly, the White House and the staff here are focused on doing our jobs", she told CNN's Jeff Zeleny.

"He just absolutely is convinced that somehow if people buy, say, high-speed electronic equipment from overseas, from Asia or Europe or Canada, that somehow that money is gone".

In a series of Tweets Monday, the president continued to lash out at Woodward personally and his book's portrayal of Trump as a foul-mouthed and bumbling egotist.

"The Woodward book is a Joke - just another assault against me, in a barrage of assaults, using now disproven unnamed and anonymous sources", Mr Trump said in the first of a series of tweets. Dems can't stand losing.

Cohn pushed back on the book's claims Tuesday, while Trump has repeatedly called the book a "scam".

"Just run the presses - print money", Trump said, according to Woodward, during a discussion on the national debt with Gary Cohn, former director of the White House National Economic Council.

Pence, a number of top Cabinet officials and other high-level appointees have all denied being the author. Incredibly, Woodward cites Trump's statement on Tillerson's firing while editing out the Iran reference.

"People who work for him are anxious - that he will sign things or give orders that threaten the national security or financial security of the country or of the world", Woodward told 'CBS Sunday Morning'.

Trump has also told associates privately he wanted tough-minded lawyers who are "attentive to his interests", according to the report, though the White House counsel seeks to safeguard the overall interests of the presidency. Trump allegedly asked Christie about transition team funds.
