Marvel Cinematic Universe getting snapped away from Netflix

Disney's upcoming streaming service could contain a 10-episode, $100 million Star Wars show

We know Disney's Netflix-like paid streaming service is on its way, but we don't know much about the content that will arrive with it. The service will not, however, carry the volume of content found on Netflix, Iger added. This deal also includes Marvel shows likeJessica Jones and Luke Cage. Notably, this film line-up will include live-action versions of Disney classics like The Sword in the Stone and The Lady and the Tramp. Every MCU movie now hosted on Netflix will be leaving the site, and the next film in the franchise, next March's Captain Marvel, will be the first to head directly to Disney's site instead of Netflix.

Disney's collaborations with Favreau extend back a decade, when he helped launch the Marvel Cinematic Universe as director of Iron Man and Iron Man 2 and as an executive producer of the Iron Man and Avengers films for Marvel Studios.

Expect more details about the lifespan of Marvel movies on Netflix as Disney gets closer to launching the service, and also keep an eye on if Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 get their full 18-month tenure on the service... That being said, it is expected to land somewhere in the monthly range of $6 to $8. However, some Fox properties, like National Geographic will likely end up on the service, as will films from Fox animation and family movies like "Home Alone".

Iger noted new Marvel shows are being planned for the upcoming Disney streaming service, which will launch later in 2019, and that the company is heavily focused on the app. This implies as more movies and TV shows join the service, the price will go up.

With Comcast out of the bidding war, Disney is planning to move forward with its $71.3 billion (roughly Rs. 4.89 lakh crores) purchase of Fox's entertainment assets, in part to boost a Disney-branded streaming service set to launch in late 2019. People around Hollywood are calling it DisneyFlix, but that's not official.

Don't forget to share this post on your Facebook wall and with your Twitter followers! I've heard a few other names as well.

This confirms what has been suspected all along, that the streaming rights would kick over for all of Disney's movies starting in 2019 and beyond. Can they make it work?
