Facebook has imposed a 30-day suspension on Alex Jones - founder of the InfoWars conspiracy theory site. Pages maintained by Jones and Infowars have remained active because they have not crossed "a certain threshold of strikes" necessary for them to be unpublished, Facebook said. One of the four banned videos had even been marked as acceptable after a moderator reviewed it last month, according to TechCrunch.
As well as taking down the videos, the InfoWarsYouTube channel has been hit by a penalty known as a "community strike", which stops it broadcasting live for 90 days.
A Facebook spokesperson also said if Jones or his fellow admins continue to break its rules, his pages face a permanent ban from the site. In another video, Jones drew a comparison between an animated drag queen show to Satanism.
Jones had previously been sent a notice that he had violated Facebook's policies and that his personal profile would be subject to a 30-day suspension the next time he did so, the spokesperson said. In February, YouTube levied a strike for a video claiming that David Hogg, one of the outspoken student survivors of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, was a "crisis actor". While the social network may further clarify this incident, it remains unclear what does and doesn't violate the social network's content guidelines - especially after it decided just days ago that Jones' rant accusing special counsel Robert Mueller of pedophilia could stay on the platform. At the time, the company appeared unwilling to say Jones' content violated its policies.

In regards to punishments for personal accounts and pages, Facebook issues a strike to the page admin that posted the content violation as well as the page on which it was posted.
Facebook and YouTube acted after weeks of controversy over Jones, who first gained notoriety by insisting that the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, were an "inside job" by the US government. The company still claims that the video doesn't violate its community standards.
Jones has been widely criticized for promoting untrue, virulent hypotheses about tragic events like the 2001 terrorist attacks on World Trade Center in NY that killed almost 3,000 people and the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in CT that killed 26 students and staff.
