The England national tea enjoyed popularity not seen for a generation under Southgate's guidance, who impressed with his calm authority and poise.

Lyon unsurprisingly dominate the nominations for Best FIFA Women's Player, with six players on the 10-strong shortlist playing their football for the all-conquering French club, including prolific Norwegian striker Ada Hegerberg and England full-back Lucy Bronze.

Other inclusions are Lionel Messi, Raphael Varane and Antoine Griezmann - while Neymar is the big name exclusion from the list following his injury-hit campaign for PSG, along with his diving antics at the World Cup.

Klopp, whose Liverpool side also secured a top-four place, is joined on the shortlist by Pep Guardiola, who guided Man City to a record-breaking league season.

A list of 11 candidates for the men's coach award has been drawn up by a panel of Federation Internationale de Football Association legends, including the likes of Brazil legend Ronaldo Nazario, former England boss Fabio Capello and ex-Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard.

At the ceremony in London in September, FIFA will make awards to the best goalkeeper, the best goal, and a fan award.

Last year's victor Cristiano Ronaldo also makes the list, as with Barcelona's Lionel Messi.

Completing the shortlist are Diego Simeone of Atletico Madrid, Barcelona's double victor Ernesto Valverde and Zinedine Zidane, who stepped down after taking Real to a third successive Champions League title.

Argentine forward Messi topped the scoring charts with 34 goals in Barcelona's third La Liga title win in the last four seasons.

The other two awards are "The Best FIFA Men's Coach" and "The Best FIFA Women's Player".

Portugal worldwide Ronaldo scored 15 goals as Real won the Champions League for a third successive campaign and, following the World Cup, he joined Juventus in an unexpected £99million move.
