Fundamental change required for North Korea rights to improve

Graham warns Trump

On November 28 previous year, North Korea tested an intercontinental ballistic missile that it claimed could reach the United States mainland.

The July 20 images showed work at the Sohae Satellite Launching Station to dismantle a building used to assemble space-launch vehicles and a nearby rocket engine test stand used to develop liquid-fuel engines for ballistic missiles and space-launch vehicles, the 38 North think tank said.

Satellite images of the Sohae station seen by US-based monitoring group 38 North suggest Pyongyang is complying with a promise made to the United States in June.

In a commentary on Friday, the newspaper criticized Moon's recent lecture in Singapore where he warned that US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un might face "grave judgment" should they fail to deliver on their June 12 summit agreement, including working toward the "complete denuclearization" of the peninsula.

Diplomats say the North Koreans have canceled follow-up meetings, demanded more money and failed to maintain basic communications, even as the once-isolated regime's engagements with China and South Korea flourish.

The images published by 38 North, a US -based website focused on North Korea that is affiliated with the Stimson Center in Washington, were taken by the commercial companies Digital Globe and Airbus Defense and Space on July 20 and July 22, respectively.

After Pompeo visited Pyongyang earlier this month, the North Korean foreign ministry issued a statement in which it accused Washington of not doing enough to build lasting peace on the Peninsula.

According to Yonhap, the North is growing frustrated with what it sees as a lack of progress towards a peace agreement.

"Given that the South Korean government also has an obligation to carry out what was agreed upon in the Panmunjom Declaration, it should not sit idle on the issue of declaring an end to the war", said Uriminzokkiri, the North's external propaganda website, in English, referring to the April summit agreement.

The head of diplomacy emphasized however her country has no intention of easing all measures imposed against the northern Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

A U.S. defense official, however, told AFP that the Pentagon was not closely tracking activities at Sohae in terms of how it relates to the denuclearization of North Korea.

But late last week in meetings with his aides, Trump bristled about the lack of positive developments in the negotiations.

"Although that's unfortunate, that's the only thing that's going to get the North Koreans to behave responsibly", he said. He said that with eventual denuclearization, there would be "big benefits and exciting future for North Korea at end of process!"
