Trump calls the European Union a foe of the United States

Trump Declares EU a 'Foe,' Alongside Russia and China

Trump's tweet comes a day before he's set to meet one-on-one with Putin in Helsinki, and two days after the special counsel Robert Mueller indicted 12 Russian intelligence officers for efforts to interfere in the 2016 USA presidential campaign. "If this meeting will give an impetus to nuclear disarmament, it would be progress", he said and added that Germany always talked about the necessity of establishing intensive dialogue with Russian Federation. On Friday, the U.S. Justice Department indicted 12 Russian intelligence officers over alleged crimes tied to Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election in 2016.

Well, President Trump has spoken about these indictments in a very partisan way while members of his administration including the Secretary of Homeland Security have been saying that it was really about an attack on America.

"We could start there", says Dingell.

The US president told reporters that "nothing bad is going to come out of it".

In an interview yesterday with CBS News Trump was asked to describe the US's biggest foes - and the first on the list was the European Union - before going on to name Russian Federation and China. He told Glor he has "low expectations" for the summit.

Both leaders were also greeted with a large billboard advertisement purchased by Helsingin Sanomat, the nation's largest newspaper, which bashed the Trump and Putin as being enemies of journalism and a free press.

Trump and Putin have held talks several times before.

Speaking to ABC's This Week, national security adviser John Bolton said: "The United States does not have an extradition process with Russian Federation so it's pretty hard to imagine how that would happen".

Putin is regarded as creating a culture of violence and impunity that has resulted in the killing of some Russian journalists.

"I don't think you'll have any 'Gee, I did it, I did it".

The finding comes as the two leaders are set to meet in Helsinki, Finland on Monday for a much-anticipated discussion meant to strengthen relations between the rival world powers. When asked about who he sees as the U.S.'s biggest foe, he said that the US has "a lot of foes".

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said it's inevitable that Russian Federation will interfere in USA elections and that it's pointless for Trump to confront Putin about it. Asked to explain why he was meeting with Putin at all, Trump said he would share that after the meeting was over - a non answer which may mean he didn't know what to say.

Trump has said he will raise the issue of Russian election meddling, along with Syria, Ukraine, nuclear proliferation and other topics.

"Finland arranges and organizes the meeting, offers the services of the host, and this has always been our way of thinking even in the coldest days of the Cold War", Torstila said. "Because it's like - what are they waving a white flag?"

"Let us not expect too much from this meeting, so that we would not, you know, be disappointed".
