Trump Mocks 'Me Too Generation' At Rally

WASHINGTON DC- MAY 18 U.S. Sen. Jon Tester listens to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin at a Senate Banking Committee and International Policy hearing on Capital Hill

Jordan has been one of Trump's most loyal defenders in Congress, and was thought to be a candidate for a leadership position in the Republican caucus upon Speaker Paul Ryan's retirement early next year.

Warren responded on Twitter, saying Trump should focus his attention on families who are being separated at the Mexican border.

Trump then disparaged the Me Too movement - raising some eyebrows, but drawing laughter from the friendly audience.

His barbs against the media came on a day when newsrooms across the US held a moment of silence in remembrance of five Maryland newspaper staffers who were fatally shot last week by a man who authorities say held a grudge against the publication.

The President made his high-risk gamble at a raucous rally as he renewed his attack on Democratic senator and possible 2020 White House candidate Elizabeth Warren and her claim to possess Native American heritage.

Trump has held similar rallies targeting other Senate Democrats, hoping to expand the GOP's narrow, 51-vote majority in the midterm elections. Elizabeth Warren "Pocahontas" is racially insensitive, attacking her with the divisive nickname.

"Democrats want anarchy", Mr. Trump said.

"It's not a bad thing", Trump said ahead of his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland later this month. "Look, Donald Trump does this over and over, thinking somehow he's going to shut me up with it".

But Tester, in his role as the top Democrat on the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, released a slew of anonymous allegations against Jackson, accusing him of overprescribing medication and other misconduct. He welcomed Tester's Republican opponent, state Auditor Matt Rosendale, to the stage Thursday, calling him a "very special person".

Tester and colleagues like Donnelly and Heitkamp well know the straddle required of Democratic senators in conservative territory, who face the conundrum of voting with the majority opinion in their states or with their national party.

"Jon Tester voted "no" on repealing ObamaCare", Trump said, adding an extraneous critique of Sen. "President Trump, I'll clear my schedule for whenever you are ready to sit down and talk about how we can get to work for Big Sky Country". Jackson, a Navy rear admiral, denied the claims but withdrew his nomination.

But the Montana presidential visit (rare for a place that has but three electoral votes) was also clearly personal for Trump.

President Trump is scheduled to speak at 4 p.m.

"Tester said things about him that were disgusting and they weren't true", Trump said. Mechanic Shane Hegle said he drove 120 miles (195 kilometres) from his Cut Bank home to be among the first in line.

“This is going to help a bunch, ” Hegle said.

"I'm glad that the president has signed 16 of my bills", Tester said, pointing to one measure created to improve accountability at the VA.

Montana is the latest stop on Trumps midterm campaign tour, created to boost Republicans and advocate for his first 18 months in office. He is expected to travel throughout the summer.

President Donald Trump's eldest son went on the attack against incumbent Sen.
