Trump Threatens To End Trade With United States' Closest Allies

After landing in Quebec Canada on Friday Trump greeted US Ambassador to Canada Kelly Craft with a hilariously awkward kiss

Trump stressed re-admitting Russian Federation to a club of industrialized nations would be good for all countries.

When Trump was pressed about the annexation of Crimea, he placed the blame on President Barack Obama for failing to handle the situation.

"This used to be the G8, not the G7, then something happened", Trump said in reference to Moscow's suspension from the group in March 2014, over the secession of Crimea from Ukraine. "We're pretty close on the sunset division", Trump said, referencing the USA demand for a sunset clause in a final agreement.

When asked about President Trump's earlier comments on trade, in which he warned his allies off imposing retaliatory measures for the tariffs, Mr Trudeau told reporters: "The president will continue to say what he says at various occasions". "We're looking for peace in the world, we're not looking to play games".

He left the summit early to travel to Singapore for a landmark meeting with the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to try to persuade him to give up the country's nuclear weapons. "There are no grounds whatsoever for bringing Russian Federation with its current behavior back into the G7", said Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau did not wait for the US president to kick off the meeting in La Malbaie, Quebec.

Trudeau told Trump that it was "unacceptable" to cite national security when targeting a military ally like Canada.

"If they retaliate they are making a mistake because.they do so much more business with us than we do with them that we can't lose that".

During the Saturday press conference, Trump slammed the press for reporting on heightened tensions at the meeting. "And that's a very profitable answer, if we have to do it".

Mr Trump said the move would protect domestic producers that were vital to United States security.

Representatives from other G-7 countries said they felt like they had made progress in conveying their positions to Trump, something many of them felt pressured to do by voters at home.

The UK and the rest of the European Union will be slapped with a 25 percent duty on steel and 10 percent on aluminium.

Trump is telling reporters that he told world leaders that the USA will take whatever steps necessary to prevent unfair foreign trade practices.

The spokesman added, there are no concrete agreements or understandings, and no specific discussions are being conducted now.

Trumps pitch that world leaders eliminate all tariffs - or else - was his latest attempt to reorder the global trading system, which he says is stacked unfairly against the United States. He said gender equality must "cut through" everything the G-7 does.

Leaders of the G7 nations on Saturday papered over the cracks in their alliance at a summit in Canada but came away with little more than an agreement to disagree on trade, as U.S. President Donald Trump defiantly brandished his "America First" agenda.

Trump contends that other countries "have been taking advantage of the United States on trade".
