Jesse Lingard and Dele Alli both start for England against Nigeria

Diego Maradona's Argentina saw off Nigeria in 1994

The team, who lost 2-1 to England on Saturday at Wembley, will fly out of London on Sunday to Austria before they head out to Russian Federation for the World Cup on June 11.

Some fans watching on as England faced off against Nigeria at Wembley on Saturday were left confused as Super Eagles supporters booed Dele Alli.

Ndidi was meant to play some part against in the Eagles' last friendly game against England on Saturday, but the German coach chose not to introduce him, despite asking him to warm up alongside other substitutes.

It took them just two minutes after the restart to get their goal.

England opened the scoring early on, after Nigeria went a man light, following Leon Balogun's clash of heads.

Arsenal's Alex Iwobi pulled one back for the visitors, who are also World Cup-bound, but England did enough to secure the victory.

Trippier claimed the assist for England's opening goal when his corner was headed home by Gary Cahill, and Southgate said: "His quality on the ball is outstanding".

"I liked the interchange of movement and the passing between our front four".

In February 2015, it was reported that TV presenter and former Nigerian football player John Fashanu tried to convince Alli to play for Nigeria.

"I think the pace in the team, you can feel it, and that is why we had some problems in the first half".

"We don't think it was the moment for him to play but he will start the next game but I hope if he plays against Czech Republic, he will be fit and ready on June 16".

Elderson Echiejile will be making his first World Cup appearance after losing his place to Ejike Uzoenyi in Brazil 2014 due to injury.

"It is to be expected but at the same time it would be nice if it was positive", Cahill said of the stories regarding England players leading into a big tournament.

"For some reason, not a lot of us or not a lot of us believe in it".
