Xiaomi announces new flagship smartphones, smart TV, fitness band and more

Xiaomi Mi8 SE

Then the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition, which is very similar to the Mi 8, but comes with a see-through glass back, pressure-sensitive in-display fingerprint scanner, and 3D face unlock. The basic Mi 8 will go on sale in China on June 5, while the Explorer's retail date is not specified. Last but not least, the Mi Band 3 is also water resistant up to 50 metres in depth as well.

Xiaomi follows a pretty basic recipe when designing a new high-end smartphone: it has to give consumers lots more bang for the buck than the competition. The new Xiaomi Mi Band 3 may be right up your street and be the flawless tracker to place on your wrist as it has just launched in China. Also, the Xiaomi variant isn't available yet in China or in India, so if you're looking at a purchase right away, the Vivo X21 is your only option. It can be noted that the company has skipped the Mi 7 series, and has directly moved from Mi 6 to Mi 8. Xiaomi's latest software boasts new AI camera features, as well as a redesigned recent app interface that maximizes screen space.

As far as the Mi Band 3 is concerned, the new fitness tracker will get some facelift with bigger screen real estate and rounded edges. The Mi 8 looks like a great, competitively priced smartphone. It has an 18.7:9 aspect ratio and an unmissable notch at the top for a 20-megapixel front facing selfie camera. This allows users to see the phone's internal bits (some of them, anyway), and could encourage either not using a protective case or investing in a clear one. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 845 platform with Artificial Intelligence Engine (AIE) and Adreno 630 graphics, achieving an AnTuTu score over 300,000. There's a MarvelAvengers edition which comes with 8GBof RAM and 256GB of storage. The Mi 8 Explorer Edition has design and hardware that's similar to the Mi 8, however, there are some differences.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE has a 5.88-inch FHD+ OLED display (manufactured by Samsung) and offers 86.12% of screen-to-body ratio.

The dual-SIM 4G VoLTE smartphone supports Bluetooth 5.0, dual band Wi-Fi, 3.5mm headphone jack, Type-C USB connector, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, Face Unlock, gyro, proximity, compass and accelerometer among others. Honor 10 also has face unlock with a home button that doubles as a fingerprint sensor.

We are not sure who's providing the Dual-frequency Global Positioning System chip to Xiaomi, but we know Broadcom, who has bee a world leader with Global Positioning System tech has been working on the exact solution for a while now.

Available in 4GB RAM/64GB memory and 6GBRAM/64GB memory variants, they come at a price of CNY 1,799 (about Rs 19,000) and CNY 1,999 (about Rs. 21,100) respectively.
