Bills' Incognito suggests he's retiring due to health issues

Peter King

The Buffalo Bills' guard told Sports Illustrated's Peter King that he is strongly considering retiring but would come back at the right price.

The Bills saved $1.675 million in cap space by restructuring Incognito's contract.

Meanwhile Incognito tweeted a cryptic message to the NFLPA and its president, George Atallah hinting that his career is over. "It's been a long career", Incognito said, according to Carucci.

Incognito's decision to retire comes a week after he fired his agent, David Dunn, in a post on Twitter. "That's it." Incognito added he is experiencing liver and kidney problems and is being affected by stress.

Incognito was suspended midway through the 2013 season and never played a down for the Dolphins again. The contract and all that pissed me the f off and all that, but [retiring] has nothing to do with that, ' Incognito said, via the Buffalo News.

Of his anger over his pay cut, Incognito told the News on Tuesday, "There's more to that story, there's many layers, but I don't want to get into that right now".

"I'm done, I'm done, that's it", Incognito told The Buffalo News.

Incognito, 34, has played 11 National Football League seasons, reaching the Pro Bowl in 2012 as a Dolphin and 2015, 2016 and 2017 as a Bill.

If this is indeed it for Incognito, it has been an odd 11-year career. Ngakoue said he and Incognito cleared the air after they were AFC teammates at the Pro Bowl in January. An NFL investigation determined Incognito and two other Dolphins offensive linemen persistently harassed Martin. It was heavily hinted at by Martin that he was bullied by the former Cornhusker because he was black.

After a year away from football, he signed with the Bills in 2015 and has made three consecutive Pro Bowls. Center Eric Wood retired due to a neck injury, while left tackle Cordy Glenn was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals.
