Ex Russian agent Sergei Skripal no longer in critical condition - Hospital

US sanctions Russians over “malign activity,” Moscow to compensate companies affected

The daughter of a former Russian spy Sergei Skripal, Julia, who with his father was poisoned in Salisbury on March 4, nerve gas, came out of the coma.

Dr Christine Blanshard, medical director at Salisbury District Hospital, said: "Following intense media coverage yesterday, I would like to take the opportunity to update you on the condition of the two remaining patients being treated at Salisbury District Hospital".

The UK's Metropolitan Police Service, in turn, stated on behalf of Skripal's daughter Yulia that she woke up a week ago and that "her strength is growing daily".

Yulia Skripal released a statement saying she's "getting stronger".

Britain has blamed Russia for the March 4 poisoning of Yulia and Sergei Skripal in the city of Salisbury, and more than two dozen Western allies have expelled more than 150 Russian diplomats in a show of solidarity.

The line of questioning came after a diplomatic showdown at a U.N. Security Council meeting in NY on Thursday, during which Russian Federation warned Britain that it was "playing with fire".

How did British authorities not notice the guinea pigs before sealing the house? she asked.

The Russian embassy tweeted on Thursday that Skripal had two cats and two guinea pigs.

The press officer added that Russian Federation has officially asked the British Foreign Office about the animals' fate and whether they were also treated for poison.

Nebenzia said: "Great Britain refuses to cooperate with us on the pretext that the victim does not cooperate with the criminal".

Moscow earlier Friday rejected a British newspaper report that the nerve agent Britain says was used against Skripal came from a military facility on the Volga River.

London has blamed Russian Federation for the attempted murder while Moscow denies any involvement.

In the month since the attack, the United Kingdom and many of its Western allies, including the US, have expelled scores of Russian diplomats in retaliation - and Russia has retaliated by expelling those countries' diplomats in turn.

Skripal and his daughter Yulia's conditions are improving, and Yulia is now conscious and talking. Both were claimed to have been poisoned with the nerve agent novichok.

At a UN Security Council meeting on Thursday, Russia warned Britain that "you're playing with fire and you'll be sorry" over its accusations.

Viktoria Skripal said she hoped to travel to Britain to visit Sergei and Yulia, but the British government said Friday it had denied her a visa because her application "did not comply with the immigration rules". "In reality, though, they were really important pieces of evidence", she wrote.

NAN reports that the European Union also recalled its ambassador from Moscow for consultations over the nerve gas attack against a former spy in Britain, reinforcing a united stand with Prime Minister Theresa May against Russian Federation.
