One year to Brexit: What's been agreed - what's still to be settled?

5K UK finance jobs may be moved by Brexit

Britain formally announced that it would be leaving the European Union on March 29 last year with a letter invoking Article 50 starting the clock on a two-year exit process.

It was on March 29, 2017 that the May government set in motion the two-year exitprocess under Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty by sending a letter to Brussels about the UK's decision to leave the European Union after the 2016 referendum resulted in a 52%-48% leave vote.

But the visit, which is also the one-year anniversary of her signing the Article 50 letter to leave the bloc, comes at a time when the country appears no less divided than at the referendum.

Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive, said, "Another month of double digit decline in production for the United Kingdom is of considerable concern, but we hope that the degree of certainty provided by last week's Brexit transition agreement will help stimulate business and consumer confidence over the coming months".

What has been agreed so far?

.

On Thursday, Mrs May will visit a textile factory in Ayrshire, a parent and toddler group in Newcastle, have lunch with farmers near Belfast before meeting businesses in Barry, south Wales.

May also dodged the question when asked past year.

The business group, Ibec, has written to the British Prime Minister to express its deep concerns at the way the Brexit talks process is moving. "I am determined that as we leave the EU, and in the years ahead, we will strengthen the bonds that unite us, because ours is the world's most successful union", she said.

One of the most contentious issues during the referendum campaign was whether the money saved from European Union membership would outweigh the possible economic impact of leaving the bloc. But longer-term forecasts show growth grinding lower over the next five years and lagging global rivals.

Labour has been scrambling to clarify its position on Brexit after Shadow Foreign Secretary Emily Thornberry suggested the party would back the deal May negotiates with Brussels.

But first, the PM must agree a deal in Parliament, with a vote expected in October.

The British Prime Minister, Theresa May will visit Northern Ireland today as part of a whistle stop tour of the United Kingdom to mark one year until Brexit.

Her message will attempt to show unity across the country.

"I said, you know, some were predicting great problems if people voted for Brexit". When asked whether Brexit is good or bad for the country, the margin remains very slim with 46 per cent responding it is a bad idea and 44 per cent saying it is a good idea.
