Criminal Deportee Escapes ICE Custody at JFK Airport

A man escaped custody from federal immigration officials Tuesday night at at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City

A prisoner set to be deported escaped from Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at JFK Airport in Queens, and fled by hailing a cab, security footage shows.

The ICE agents spent about an hour searching for Mbacke before notifying Port Authority cops, who reviewed surveillance video and discovered that he made his getaway in a yellow cab, sources said.

The Port Authority Police said the incident took place Tuesday night around 8:30 p.m.at Gate B23 in Terminal 4 while ICE agents were in the process of transferring him to another flight. Mbacke has previous criminal convictions for multiple weapons and firearms offenses.

The report said that these deportations have not been getting much attention because Trump's immigration focus has been on building a wall with Mexico and deporting Latin American immigrants.

The man has been described as being 6 feet, 3 inches tall, 190 pounds.

An agency police spokesman said the escape was reported to Port Authority police officers at about 9:15 p.m. Port Authority police confirmed the escape to Fox News and NBC New York.

ICE urged anyone who sees Mbacke to immediately contact authorities, and warned that members of the public shouldn't try to apprehend him.
