Dave Gettleman Talks Odell Beckham Jr

NFL Odell Beckham Jr New York Giants

Giants general manager Dave Gettleman, who is in his first offseason with the team, was asked on Tuesday if he wants Beckham to remain in NY in 2018.

Furthermore, the Giants could keep Beckham Jr. under contract this season on his fifth year option and then potentially franchise-tag him for the next two seasons.

"That is just another way of saying we're gonna try to do everything we can to make our team better, " Shurmur said. "All indications are he will be back healthy by the time we start playing in September".

The Los Angeles Rams have quickly entered the conversation as a potential landing spot for the Pro Bowl wideout if the Giants are serious about moving him.

"Neither Odell nor his agent have contacted us regarding either report", Gettleman said.

"You don't quit on talent", Gettleman added multiple times during the interview session.

In four seasons with the Giants, Beckham has 313 catches for 4,424 yards and 38 touchdowns and was named the 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The Cleveland Browns have been making headlines this offseason, and for once, it's the good kind. I really don't think you can know somebody by just seeing reports, reading reports, hearing what people think and say, I think it's really important, especially in the player-coach relationship that I get to know him. Who knows how that video appeared?

"We can't talk about anybody that's under contract with any other team, but I think, if there's one thing you can appreciate about what we've done this offseason, there's no trade we wouldn't explore or look into if we feel like it can upgrade us as a team", McVay said.

And Shurmur even said, based on his conversation with Beckham, that it's his understanding Beckham will be with the team on April 9 when the offseason program begins. "It's important as coaches and players and anybody who is working together to visit and get a chance to know one another". From 2014-16, Beckham totaled 288 receptions, 4,122 yards, and 35 touchdowns, figures which rank first, second, and fourth, respectively, among wide receivers in National Football League history during the first three seasons of their respective careers.
