The Roots Cancel SXSW Performance Due to Bomb Threat

SXSW cancels The Roots concert after 'security concern'

26-year old Trevor Weldon Ingram was arrested on Sunday, and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

A Chronicle staffer standing in the media line at the Fifth Street venue overheard SXSW staffers and volunteers talking about a bomb threat at the venue, and delivering word that the show was canceled.

The Roots' scheduled concert at SXSW was canceled on Saturday due to a bomb threat in the Austin area. SXSW has yet to indicate if the Roots - billed as "Roots and Friends" with Ludacris, Jessie Reyez, Rapsody, Dermot Kennedy, and Tank and the Bangas - will be rescheduling the gig. Beer-maker Bud Lite, the event's top sponsor, opted to cancel The Roots' show in the interest of safety.

"Due to a security concern, we have made the hard decision to cancel tonight's Bud Light x The Roots SXSW Jam". We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

QuestLove, the frontman for the Philly band, warned fans about the cancellation on Twitter and then deleted his tweet. Quest" posted a local news report on Twitter, adding, "no one is Mr. "There are no indications of any broader security concern for any activities relating to this incident", the police department wrote in a statement. I'm sure we will return to Austin ladies and gentlemen.

Ingram's motivation for the e-mail threat is not clear.

Two people have been killed and two others wounded in three package-bomb explosions this month elsewhere in Austin.

The package-bomb cases have not been solved.
