Super Smash Bros. Coming to Switch in 2018

Super Smash Bros. is coming to Switch this year

Super Smash Bros. is on its way to the Nintendo Switch.

Despite being a short clip, there is quite a bit to dissect here. Let us know in the comments section below.

The series started out on the Nintendo 64 in 1999, and has since spawned four titles in total, with the most recent also called Super Smash Bros.

In its teaser video, two characters from the game Splatoon are seen chasing and shooting each other before the background goes dark and a fiery Smash logo illuminates another pair of characters. Their popularity led to downloadable Inkling costumes for Mii fighters in the Wii U/3DS Smash Bros., and it was great to finally get confirmation that they'd take their rightful place in the series' next entry.

As of now, details on the game are pretty scarce, but Sakurai urged to "please wait until the time that content can be released or released" as far as more information or updates about the game are concerned. You can expect many of these games to be out later this year.

Of course, all of that is assuming that it doesn't end up getting delayed... The firm didn't give much away, though, but a teaser trailer (below) confirms that with Splatoon's Inklings joining the fray, it's not just a port of the Wii U's Super Smash Bros 4. Not every silhouette can be made out clearly, but many are fairly easy to identify. Could Nintendo do the same thing here?

The game engine behind Undertale is adding support for Nintendo Switch later this summer. It makes ideal sense, the Wii U sold terribly, despite having an incredible selection of games.

"We're working hard to ensure the Nintendo Switch version of GameMaker Studio 2 retains the already excellent functionality of the engine, and we are committed to supporting developers and studios who are keen to make the jump to Nintendo's record-breaking console".
