Roy Keane reveals cause of Pogba's troubles at Manchester United

Manchester United star Paul Pogba has been struggling on the pitch

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has given his reasons for not starting Paul Pogba in their UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg match against Sevilla on Wednesday.

Leaving him out of the match with Sevilla had detrimental effects on the team's performance, as they only managed six shots in comparison t Sevilla's twenty-five. The Spanish club failed on numerous occasions to take advantage from United's inability to be risky.

Manchester United's ace midfielder Paul Pogba has been garnering headlines amid surging speculations that he could soon be leaving Old Trafford.

'Paul is now focused on his football more than anything else.

Asked about giving Sanchez defensive instructions, rather than allowing the Chilean forward to play more of a free role, Mourinho offered an angry response.

Paul Pogba started on the bench for the visitors but came on after just 17 minutes following an injury to Ander Herrera.

It was earlier reported Manchester United would pursue Toni Kroos of Real Madrid. We have to play in a similar way. With Jose Mourinho spending very heavily to re-build the remains of a post-Louis Van Gaal era, Keane believe that the club still needs more additions. Not that he managed to earn a huge away win, like he did with Inter against Barcelona in 2010.

"Of course, last season we had quarter-finals, semi-finals, but it was in the Europa League, which has a different meaning".

Safe to say, Mourinho has been in for a rough ride recently.

"The way he was playing during the time he was on the pitch, he showed the intensity that is only possible when you are fit".

He responded by saying, "Who?"

And that is not good news.

Sevilla fired 25 shots at De Gea's goal in comparison with United's six, only one of which was on target.

Keane still made no bones about the fact it wasn't a great performance but he certainly was not almost as harsh as Didier Hamann, who described United's play as "anti-football". If Sevilla get one goal from a set piece at Old Trafford, they need to score two.
