Porsche 911 GT3 RS Line Adds Outrageous Power, Price, Paint Job

The chassis also gets minor tweaks with minor tuning given to the rear-axle steering for better performance

Based on the 911 GT3, the RS has been refined even further, combining the most powerful naturally aspirated engine ever fitted to a road-legal 911 with a suspension that features recalibrated rear axle steering tuned for maximum dynamics and precision.

Keeping tabs on the Porsche 911 range is a pretty hard task these days.

The confusing thing is, the GT3 is also available in two variants - standard and RS, the latter being the more hardcore road-going racer, of course. At the front, the spring rates are double that on the current 911 GT3 and previous GT3 RS, and the rear spring rate is up by 40%. Unlike in the case of the 991.1 models, the muscle bump didn't take away the 9,000 rpm magic of the unit, with the naturally aspirated mill screaming at the top of its cylinders as the vehicle slides around on the white stuff - helmet tip to independent motoring journo Kyle Fortune.

Porsche has finally taken the wraps off the new 911 GT3 RS. Hence the Porsche 911 GT3 RS receives modified fascia at the front with a bigger spoiler. The automaker helped to keep the weight down by using a magnesium roof, polyurethane front and rear fascias, a carbon trunk lid and fenders, titanium muffler and exhaust tips, lightweight glass, and other features. The bucket seats are formed of strong, light carbon-fibre, too. Traction is also improved thanks to 21-inch wheels with 325/30 tires at the rear axle.

New Porsche 911 GT3 RS coming

The same high-revving 4.0-litre six-cylinder naturally aspirated boxer engine from the GT3 has been boosted by 20bhp to produce 520bhp. Porsche also massaged more torque out of the engine the auto uses with 346 lb-ft, a bump of 8 lb-ft compared to the outgoing model. Unlike the GT2 RS though, this one doesn't come with an optional manual tranny. Combined with the specially calibrated seven-speed PDK, the high-performance engine guarantees an outstanding driving performance. Performance is pretty impressive. The top speed is at a dizzying 312km/h. And as already mentioned, the Weissach Package will add a hefty premium to that figure.

On that note, owners can lighten their cars even further by opting for the Weissach package, which brings even more carbon components to the party (extending to the exterior, cabin and chassis) and magnesium wheels.

For racetrack bling, a no-cost Clubsport package adds a roll bar, fire extinguisher, six-point belt and battery disconnect switch. Without paying any extra penny, the vehicle can be equipped with Clubsport package which includes fire extinguisher, disconnect switch of battery, six-point harnesses and roll bar.
