Netanyahu Associates Arrested in Graft Probe

Moscow dismisses claims Iran launched drone inside Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said here Sunday that Israel will act "not only against Iran's proxies, but also Iran itself" if necessary. "You can take back with you a message to the tyrants of Tehran: Do not test Israel's resolve".

Zarif retaliated that Netanyahu's holding up of what he said was a drone was a "cartoonish circus" that did "not even deserve the dignity of a response".

Yinon Magal, a former Jewish Home party lawmaker who once edited Walla, gave testimony to police regarding the suspicions that Walla's coverage of Netanyahu was created to benefit the prime minister and his family.

That has left Israeli leaders with an unpalatable choice: Tolerate a permanent Iranian military presence on their border, or risk going to war to prevent it.

Comparing the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action to the 1938 Munich Agreement, Netanyahu suggested the nuclear deal signed between the world powers and Iran was also an act of appeasement that had only emboldened the regime in Tehran and brought war closer.

Similarly, he said, the Iranian nuclear agreement has "unleashed a risky Iranian tiger in our region and beyond".

As tensions increase in the Middle East over Iran's role in Syria and Yemen, and as US President Donald Trump presses for a tougher approach on Tehran, Israel is seeking wider support to contain its regional nemesis.

Senior prime ministerial aides and a number of business executives were arrested early yesterday in Israel as part of a new police investigation into Binyamin Netanyahu's alleged corrupt activities.

"Appeasement never works, " he said.

He stopped short of equating Iran with Nazi Germany but drew many comparisons.

Media reports said the new probe was linked to ongoing investigations about Netanyahu's involvement in an affair with Bezeq in which the premier received positive coverage on the Bezeq-affiliated news website Walla in return for giving concessions to the communications company. "There are many differences between the two", he said, but, he noted, "there are also some striking similarities".

"The time is now, we think, to act against Iran", McMaster said. "Millions were slaughtered here just because they were Jews".

On Saturday, during his visit to India, Iranian president Hassan Rouhani said his country would adhere to the terms of the 2015 nuclear deal till "the last breath" and warned that the U.S. would "regret" if the pact was broken.

But Iran's leadership scoffed at his claims.
