The Sunni militant group's spokesman, Ali Bin Sufyan, said in a statement that Lashkar-e-Jhangvi Al-Almi will continue targeting security forces.

The victims had no chance to retaliate, said Abdul Razzaq Cheema, a senior police official, adding that they recovered 108 Kalashnikov bullet cases from the site.

The bodies of the deceased were immediately rushed to the nearby hospital.

Police and law enforcement personnel reached the spot as an investigation was launched.

Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal condemned the incident and expressed condolences with the bereaved families.

Talking to media, he said that government would not spare those involved in spreading terror and fear among citizens.

In another such incident, at least five security personnel were martyred and six others were injured near Kech district of Balochistan.

Pakistan is not complying with the UN Security Council resolutions on sanctions against terrorists, the United States has said amid reports that it is spearheading an effort along with India to get Islamabad included in an worldwide terrorist-financing watchlist.
