Padmaavat Protests: Mob Torches Bus In Gurugram, Damages Schoolbus

Padmaavat: Haryana to abide by SC orders

A school bus was vandalised in Gurgaon while a Haryana Roadways bus was torched on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, Congress president Rahul Gandhi took to his Twitter account and blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party saying BJP's use of hatred and violence is setting our entire country on fire. "Violence and hatred are the weapons of the weak", he tweeted.

Those inside the school bus at the time of the incident said the protesters were initially dispersed by police but they appeared to regroup and return with stones and bricks, which they used to attack police personnel, a PCR van and the bus. Despite threats, several state governments are trying their best to offer a smooth release to the film and the initial reviews are out with Ranveer Singh's act as Alauddin Khilji being the most impressive.

The petitioner was filed by Congress leader Tehseen Poonawalla who stated that the four these states (Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan) had failed in their duty to maintain law and order.

Gandhi, while condemning the violence against children by the mobs, said there was no bigger cause to justify violence against children.

"On Wednesday, a rampaging anti-'Padmaavat" mob in Haryana's Bhondsi attacked school buses taking children home to Gurugram.

The Haryana government has said that it would implement the Supreme Court order for providing security to ensure the movie's screening.

When the driver did not comply, the miscreants pelted the vehicle with stones apparently to hurt the children. Despite prohibitory orders in Gurgaon, hundreds of Shree Rajput Karni Sena supporters also protested at Kherki Daula toll plaza on the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway.

"Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which bans unlawful assembly, has been imposed in view of 'Padmaavat' release in various cinema halls and multiplexes on January 25 as there is likelihood of law and order problem", the official said.
