LaVar Ball Says Lakers No Longer Want To Play for Luke Walton

Lonzo Ball (shoulder) is expected to play on Friday

The Lakers' point guard Lonzo Ball returned from a shoulder injury after a six-week absence, forward Brandon Ingram got 22 points and career-high 14 rebounds, but the poor plays of other players on both sides of the court put the game into garbage time with 10 minutes remaining.

Those comments put Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball in the hard position of both defending his father and his head coach.

He added, after a follow-up question: "My job is to play basketball. They're 100% behind and supporting what we're doing".

Only, the interview continued, and at one point, Ball was asked plainly if he likes Walton as a coach.

Vitale was less jarred by Ball making life miserable for his son Lonzo, who plays under Walton, than he was by his own company for enabling him. "We talk all the time".

"I don't see that the players aren't playing hard", he said.

Ball, who was up at 5 a.m. local time Saturday to watch his son Lonzo Ball in his first game back with the Lakers since suffering a sprained shoulder on December 23, expressed his frustration with Walton in an exclusive interview with ESPN.

"That is just his opinion. They're giving us what they have and we're going to keep working and we'll be fine". "As long as Zo is fine with it and Zo can come in and play and it doesn't affect mine and his relationship, then it doesn't bother me at all".

"Lonzo looked good, but he also looked disgusted", Ball told Goodman. So, he is definitely going to have a strong opinion about it. LaVar wasn't done with Walton, though.

Walton said that he pulled Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (zero points in 20 minutes) early on because of an uncharacteristically poor attention to defense. "I've said all along there's always parents, and parents are going to get mad at things, that's what they do".

Kuzma, who has been arguably the team's best player this season, has been struggling as of late and is coming off one of his worst performances of the season against the lowly Charlotte Hornets. "My only concern with any of it is Zo (Lonzo Ball). I know he's coming to L.A.", LaVar told ESPN.
