Instagram will now add 'Recommended' posts to your feed

The new feature will show users Instagram posts that friends have liked or that the algorithm thinks will appeal to them directly in feed

Instagram is starting to roll out recommended posts directly into users' home feeds, according to TechCrunch.

The feature, as outlined in Instagram's Help documents, will suggest posts for you based on those that have been liked by other accounts you follow.

Instagramers' homepage feed is susceptible to "recommended" content. The posts are clearly labelled and the app will introduce three to five suggested posts.

This isn't the first time Instagram has offered recommended content. Some users, as expected, are not happy about this addition to Instagram and have vented their thoughts on social media. With these new changes, Instagram users will not only see stories and posts from accounts they follow but additional, relevant content from their wider network.

Many new app companies are looking to include algorithms for informational sources.

This feature, meant to help broaden a user's reach to more content, comes a couple of weeks after Instagram announced support to follow hashtags, rather than just specific accounts.

This feature may already be in the works for several other smartphone applications. For the hashtags, you can easily opt in and out voluntarily.

Unfortunately for those that desire to remove this option entirely this is not going to be possible but instead when users come across one of these "recommended" posts they can locate the three dots and choose the "hide" option.

It's very hard though to see why this could be a problem for anyone.

IG hasn't yet confirmed a date that the "Recommended for You" transformation will be complete on both iOS and Android.

This new section, entitled "Recommend for You", was spotted while in testing earlier this month, according to Tech Crunch.
