Mariah Carey gives Times Square gig another try

Mariah Carey New Year's Rockin Eve

It's a redo for the musician Mariah Carey, who will be making a grand return to Times Square to ring in the new year. Live TV is always a crap shoot, but last year's special was especially cringe worthy, as the legendary Mariah Carey stumbled through a poorly lip synced performances, singing barely a note throughout the melody.

In spite of the drama, executives from Dick Clark Productions and the ABC network announced on Friday that Carey will return to Times Square to perform as part of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018 on December 31.

Carey's camp initially charged sabotage with technical glitches, including a faulty ear piece, while Dick Clark Productions denied the claims and said she hadn't rehearsed enough.

But both sides have kissed and made up.

After the debacle last year, Carey tweeted, "Have a happy and healthy new year everybody!"

She half-heartedly mimed her way through her hit "Emotions", in what was meant to be the entertainment climax for the throngs waiting hours in the cold in Times Square. 'See you in Times Square!' During their time working together, they have accomplished great things, including, most recently, Mariah Carey's new music and motion picture projects for this upcoming holiday season. Mariah is a singer/songwriter/producer recognized with multiple Grammy Awards, 21 American Music Awards, Billboard's "Artist of the Decade" Award, the World Music Award for "World's Best Selling Female Artist of the Millennium", and BMI's "Icon Award" for her outstanding achievements in songwriting, to name a few - with her distinct five-octave vocal range, prolific songwriting, and producing talent, Mariah is truly the template of the modern pop performance.

The pop singer will perform on the ABC telecast minutes before the ball drops to usher in the new year.

After the show, Carey posted a meme of herself on social media with the message '(expletive) happens'.
