At least three killed, 15 wounded in school shooting in New Mexico

The San Juan County Sheriff's Office said there was an active shooter at Aztec High School in New Mexico

Residents voiced disbelief on social media, while members of the New Mexico congressional delegation, state Attorney General Hector Balderas and other elected officials offered their condolences and other assistance.

Parents of Aztec High School students are being asked to pick up their children at the Aztec Police Department.

Numbers of the injured have not been confirmed, but Bloomfield Police Departmented said there had been a "shooting".

The district has been training with a standard response protocol called Lock Down, Lock Out Evacuate, and Shelter in Place. All students faculty and staff are accounted for. "Parents are advised to please stay away from all of the schools until further notice". The police department in nearby Bloomfield locked down school buildings as a precaution, according to the department's Facebook page.

According to the San Juan County Sheriff's Office, a detailed press release regarding additional details on the shooting will be released at the discretion of state and federal authorities.
