Warren Moon sued for sexual harassment, makes denial

Hall of Fame QB Warren Moon sued for sexual harassment

The woman, who worked for a sports marketing firm where Moon was president, claimed she was hired as the retired quarterback's executive assistant.

Moon is now in his 13th season as a game analyst on the Seahawks' radio team. The lawsuit alleges that Moon acknowledged drugging Haskell because he thought she wasn't "having fun". He threw for 49,325 yards and 291 touchdowns.

According to Haskell's lawsuit, Moon demanded that she stay in his hotel room during business trips, sleep in his bed and wear skimpy thong lingerie bottoms.

After news of Haskell's lawsuit against Moon broke Wednesday afternoon, the Seahawks issued a statement granting Moon a leave of absence and replacing him with Dave Wyman on their radio broadcast of this Sunday's Seahawks game in Jacksonville, Fla. The former University of Washington star led the team to a 1978 Rose Bowl victory. Moon played six years in the Canadian Football League for the Edmonton Eskimos, winning five Grey Cups, before signing with the Houston Oilers (now Tennessee Titans) in 1984. He then ventured to the National Football League and made nine Pro Bowls, throwing for 49,325 yards, 291 touchdowns and 233 interceptions in 17 National Football League seasons with the Houston Oilers, Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs and Seahawks.

Moon, who was named the NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year in 1989, was sued by a Vikings cheerleader who accused him of offering her cash for sex in 1995. Moon then had some success with the Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks before retiring as a backup for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2000 at the age of 44. The case was settled out of court. The lawsuit also said Moon claimed "his prior assistant accepted the same arrangement" and Haskell had to play along to keep her job. He was arrested later that year following a domestic incident with his wife, Felicia, who accused Moon of slapping and choking her. Moon was later acquitted when his wife told a jury she provoked the fight.

Felicia Moon told police she didn't wish to pursue criminal charges, but prosecutors filed charges against Moon. The couple divorced in 2001. Haskell says she was demoted after making the complaints. She was expecting to further her career in the sports marketing industry.

The report said a spokesperson for Moon's company, Sports 1 Marketing of Irvine, Calif., did not return phone calls or an email seeking comment. "She had no idea that her job duties were going to involve that kind of perverse protocol".
