Trail of missing Florida teen, coach surfaces in NC

Deputies: Missing Columbia County teen wiped cellphone before running away

A 17-year-old high school student who was last seen leaving her Florida home on Saturday night is believed to have run away with her soccer coach, according to police.

Deputies are asking for help to find Caitlyn Frisina after the teen left home on her own.

Deputies said Caitlyn withdrew $200 from an ATM in St. Marys, Georgia, on Sunday and authorities believe the two could be traveling in a red 2001 Mercury Sable with Florida tag number Z04CSC.

In a profile appeared to have been created by Caitlyn Frisina on a college sports recruiting website, she described herself as "a faithful Christian, who is a hard worker and has worked for everything I have".

Rodriguez has been suspended from his job pending the investigation, according to Columbia Schools Superintendent Lex Carswell, ABC reported.

Ward Frisina tweeted Monday night, "I do not care about anything except hearing your voice". She wrote: 'Let someone, anyone, know that you're ok!'

District officials said the 27-year-old has been suspended from his position pending the investigation.

Rodriguez is a soccer coach at Caitlyn's school.

"It was a real shock when I went in to get 'em up Sunday morning and she was gone", her mother Scarlet Frisina told First Coast News. "She has a big heart", the mother said.

Authorities believe the two are still heading north. Police said Frisina has family in NY and Rodriguez could possibly have family in Canada and Pennsylvania.

Investigators could retrieve text records from the phone, but Smith said he doesn't believe it's necessary at this point. We just want to know that she's safe. She left with only a few clothes. "Her family cherishes her and more than whatever else needs to know she is protected and not in peril!"

Once investigators track down the pair, Action News Jax Law and Safety Expert Dale Carson said it could be hard to charge Rodriguez if Caitlyn went with him willingly and no other crimes were committed.

They believe that she may be in the presence of 27-year-old Rian Rodriguez in a red Mercury Sable. This is a picture of me and Caitlyn Morgan Frisina my...
