Net Worth of Jeff Bezos Now Has 11 Zeroes

Jeff Bezos

Founder and largest shareholder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos has not only become the richest person in the world, but also touched the Dollars 100 billion-mark for the first time, according to a Bloomberg report. Bezos made nearly $2.4 billion on Friday alone.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has reached a net worth of $100 billion - enough to buy over half a billion Echo speakers or pay the yearly subscriptions of more than 670 million Amazon Music Unlimited accounts.

Gates is believed to be the only other person to reach $100 billion.

The online retail mogul surpassed Gates as the world's richest man last month, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, a daily ranking of the world's 500 richest people.

The online retailer's shares jumped more than two percent in anticipation of the extra income from the sales, causing 53-year-old entrepreneurs own fortune to go up by $2.4 billion (£1.8bn) to $100.3 billion (£75.2 bn), further securing his title of world's richest man. Bezos has once again knocked Bill Gates off the top spot.

Bezos' unprecedented explosion in wealth is impressive, but somewhat damaged by his reputation for not giving to charity as much as his peers, like Gates and Warren Buffet.

By comparison, Bill Gates' current estimated net worth stands at a paltry $86.8 billion (£65.1bn).

According to Bloomberg, this year itself, worth of Bezos rose by around $34 billion.

But Mr Bezos has to date has not given away any of his wealth, but in June he tweeted that he wanted the help people with his fortune and was looking for ideas for how to share it.

In addition to Amazon, Bezos also invests in start-ups, owns The Washington Post and space company Blue Origin.
