Tottenham adjusting to change of status in north London

17 May 1998 Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman salutes the fans during their homecoming from the FA Cup final in London. Arsenal also won the the FA Carling Premiership to achieve a double

And Wenger says Arsenal will have to target Kane to prevent him from continuing his North London Derby hot streak.

It shouldn't be forgotten that it was Arsenal which ended last season with a trophy - the FA Cup - and Tottenham's critics argue that Mauricio Pochettino's team need to win silverware as a form of validation of its progress.

In many respects, he has delivered exactly what was promised - six goals have come in the eleven Premier league appearances that have since transpired - and yet something still seems amiss about the Frenchman's Arsenal career.

The Gunners finished below Spurs for the first time in 22 years last season and already find themselves three places and four points worse off than their local rivals heading into this weekend's showdown at the Emirates Stadium.

It's the first match back after the worldwide break for most of the Arsenal players but Arsebe Wenger was asked why Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud were sent back early from the France squad.

The last time Arsenal defeated Spurs in the league was on March 16, 2014, when Tomas Rosicky's second-minute strike - a goal manager Arsene Wenger described afterward as one that "will go in my collection of great goals" - held up as the victor in a 1-0 victory at White Hart Lane.

Arsene Wenger insists Arsenal are not the underdogs ahead of north London derby against Tottenham

It was a 24-hour period at the start of November that really drove home the reality that Tottenham, after decades of playing second fiddle to Arsenal, was the new dominant force in north London. They enter Saturday in danger of doing that for the first time this year, having also lost at Old Trafford on October 28.

Arsene Wenger has insisted that he trusts Alexandre Lacazette "completely" at Arsenal. Two years ago when we finished above them we were disappointed because we didn't win the title.

They sit in third place in the Premier League and are top of their Champions League group. "So that does not mean today we are above Arsenal".

Spurs are hoping Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Harry Winks will be back in action after missing England's friendlies against Germany and Brazil.

"Fortunately, he's so good that Real Madrid or Barcelona will buy him next season, so we haven't got to worry about him for much longer!"

Arsenal's record signing has only completed 90 minutes once since his summer arrival but Wenger says there is no lack of trust.
