Students injured as driver 'deliberately' ploughs auto into crowd

Two students badly injured in vehicle attack in France, local media reports

One of them is said to be in a serious condition.

Toulouse prosecutor Pierre-Yves Couilleau said the man told police he "deliberately" hit the group in Blagnac around 4 p.m. with a Renault Clio vehicle, BFM TV reported.

According to the French police, a man driving a auto outside a high school near Toulouse "deliberately" rammed into the students, leaving two of them in a serious condition, AFP said.

A 23-year-old woman was the most seriously injured following the incident outside a college.

The prosecutor said the driver was known to police for about 10 minor crimes and not listed on a French register of people suspected of being radicalized by extremists.

French media said the driver, a 28-year-old man, was arrested several minutes later.

Authorities say the victims were rushed to nearby hospitals, but none of them are suffering from life threatening injuries.

One police source told the French news agency the driver "deliberately" tried to ram the students with his vehicle, one of whom is in serious condition.

The driver, a man, was arrested.

"We thought there was an accident because when we got off the campus there were a lot of police cars around".
