Will there be more House of Cards? Not with Spacey

Netflix Severed Ties With Kevin Spacey So What's For House Of Cards

Just days before he was first identified as an alleged serial sexual predator, Kevin Spacey was developing a line of sunglasses, clothing, gourmet-food products and other merchandise, presumably based on Frank Underwood, his scheming politician character on "House of Cards", according to documents obtained by The Blast.

Netflix severed ties with Kevin Spacey on Friday, saying it will not be involved in any production of House of Cards if the actor, who faces allegations of sexual misconduct, continues to appear in the show.

His departure may not mean the end of the show, however. "MRC, in partnership with Netflix, will continue to evaluate a creative path forward for the program during the hiatus".

The most recent filing was October 24, five days before actor Anthony Rapp alleged in a BuzzFeed News interview that Spacey made unwanted sexual advances toward him in 1986 when Spacey was 26 and Rapp was 14. Since Spacey's apology, more people have accused him of sexual harassment.

House of Cards has streamed on Netflix and has been produced by the company Media Rights Capital (MRC).

The announcement that he would seek treatment followed harassment allegations against him this week by Mexican actor Roberto Cavazos, who worked in the London theater where Spacey was artistic director from 2004-2015, and United States filmmaker Tony Montana.

"We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey".

MRC meanwhile said that it had handled an incident in 2012 around a "shared a complaint about a specific remark and gesture made by Kevin Spacey" from a crew member, which resulted in Spacey going to "training". Spacey plays the late writer Gore Vidal.

After the Netflix statement came out, the trade magazine reported that Spacey has been suspended from the political drama.
