United States to continue diplomatic efforts with North Korea

Trump mentally unstable

Trump "has made it clear to me to continue my diplomatic efforts", Tillerson said.

On October 4, NBC News reported that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson almost resigned over the summer following a series of tense moments with President Trump.

"You can not publicly castrate your own secretary of state", Corker, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told The Washington Post.

Tensions between the two men have grown while the nation faces a series of high-stakes global crises, including the threat posed by North Korea and fate of the Iran nuclear deal, and threatens to sow doubt about American allies as to whether Tillerson can speak authoritatively for the United States.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson Sunday denied that Donald Trump's threat to tear up the Iran nuclear deal had weakened America's chance of reining in North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile drive through diplomacy.

"Those diplomatic efforts will continue until the first bomb drops", Tillerson said on CNN's "State of the Union".

Tillerson's tenure as secretary of state has been dogged by rumors about rifts with Trump over policy.

"I am fully committed to his objectives", Tillerson continued.

It was unclear why Tillerson was unwilling to repeat what his spokeswoman has said on his behalf.

"I know the appearance of it certainly looks like there's sometimes disunity", Tillerson said on CBS' "Face the Nation". I go out and do the best I can to execute those decisions successfully.

"I checked", he told Tapper. Yet when Trump publicly says the man in charge of representing his administration overseas "is wasting his time" on diplomacy everyone starts to doubt him.

"I'm not playing", Tillerson said. "He himself is an unconventional president". Bob Corker (R-Tennessee), who said Trump has "castrated" his secretary of state by stepping over Tillerson's diplomatic duties.

I wish there were more Republicans in Congress who would publicly condemn Trump for his despicable behavior and actions.

Signs of tensions between Trump and Tillerson have raised questions among in foreign capitals about whether the secretary of state speaks for the administration.

The president was also angry with Tillerson's remarks after Trump declared there were "fine people" on both sides of the clashes in Charlottesville, Virginia, between white supremacists and anti-racist demonstrators that left one person dead, according to two people familiar with the Trump's beliefs but not authorized to discuss private conversations.
