Playtex recalls children's plate and bowls products for choking hazard

One of many designs included in recall

The plates were sold separately as well as in a Mealtime set comprised of a cup, a bowl, a plate and two utensils.

Since September, there have been four reports of children in Canada choking on the clear plastic, but there have been no injuries.

- Platex recalled millions of its plates and bowls for children on Tuesday after officials found the clear plastic layer on the items can pose as a choking hazard.

They have printed designs including superheros, princesses, cartoon characters, princesses, cars, and more.

In addition, 1.9 million were sold in Canada.

Consumers have been advised to immediately stop using the recalled plates and bowls and take them away from young children.

Playtex notes that the recall does not apply to Toy Story 3 and Baby Einstein themed plates and bowls.

The Playtex brand sets were sold at Babies "R" Us, Target, Walmart, and other stores nationwide, as well as online at Amazon.com from October 2009 through August 2017. They have also received 11 reports of that clear plastic ending up in the mouths of kids, as well as 4 reported choking cases.

If you use Playtex dishes to feed your child, there's a recall you'll want to know about. Contact Playtex at 888-220-2075 for a full refund.
