Rahul Gandhi can't see Gujarat's development through Italian glasses: Amit Shah

Gujarat Assemby polls Amit Shah kicks off 'Gujarat Gaurav Yatra' from Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth place Karamsad

Both will run simultaneously and are being led by Gujarat's Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and state BJP president Jitu Vaghani, respectively.

The BJP has undertaken the Gaurav Yatra to reach out to the voters as the state goes to polls for the Gujarat Assembly in December.

"Until 1995, electricity production in Gujarat under Congress rule was almost 36700 MW", Shah said, giving out a series of statistics to highlight the accomplishments of the successive BJP governments in the state.

Addressing the gathering, Shah accused the Congress of doing "injustice" to Gujarat, generation after generation, and said that in the upcoming Assembly election, the people of the state will make fun of those who "mock Gujarat's development model".

Mr. Shah cited instances of "injustice", like Jawaharlal Nehru "sidelining" Sardar Patel, and Morarji Desai being denied the prime ministerial post during Indira Gandhi's regime. Through the campaign 'Development Gone Crazy, ' the BJP's rival, mainly Congress party, has sought to highlight the state's abysmal performance on development front.

Rahul Gandhi while hitting out at the Modi government said that is has been able to provide employment to only 400 new youth as compared to 40,000 in China.

He added that the party is taking pride of making Gujarat a curfew-free state and providing 24 hours electricity in the state.

The "Sonia-Manmohan Singh" government, during the UPA's 10-year rule, did "great" injustice to Gujarat by holding up the Narmada dam project, he alleged.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been visiting his poll-bound home state more frequently than ever, would once again visit the State for several public events including visiting his home town Vadnagar to inaugurate a medical college and hospital during October 7-8.

The yatra was launched from Karamsad, which is Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's native place.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shah will participate in the concluding ceremony of the yatra.
