Trump wants to honor himself with a military parade on July 4

Goal-hungry Man City can still improve warns Pep

Now the president wants to throw himself a military parade down Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C. on the Fourth of July - all because he was jealous of France's Bastille Day parade.

Trump, 71, and Macron, 39, who both took office this year as political outsiders, got off to an awkward start with a now-famous handshake in May during they which they gripped each other's right hand so firmly their knuckles turned white.

Speaking to the press before a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the United Nations, Trump called the Bastille Day event "one of the greatest parades " he had ever seen.

Seated beside the USA president, Macron said: "The strength that unites our relationship is that we say everything". Now, he says he wants the USA military to "come marching down Pennsylvania Avenue" and suggested there would be major shows in both DC and New York City.

Trump attended Bastille Day on July 14 to celebrate the anniversary of the French revolution.

The military parade was "I think a tremendous thing for France and for the spirit of France", Trump said Monday. Trump was the VIP guest on the French president's viewing stand for a parade of French military troops and equipment.

Trump watched enthusiastically from a reviewing stand on July 14 as the French military showcased its tanks and fighter jets, including many USA -made planes, along the famed Champs-Elysees. "We're actually looking into it".

The Huffington Post reported in March that emails were exchanged between the Presidential Inaugural Committee and Pentagon officials asking for photographs of "military tactical vehicles" that could be used.

The US does not have a history of major military parades marching through its cities, except to celebrate wartime victories. "I mean, we're going to be showing our military", he added. Indeed, historically the United States has scorned the large military parades in nations like North Korea as signs of a childish nation obsessed with its own sense of military might.
