The good news in South Florida is that recovery from power outages caused by Hurricane Irma is now expected to be a fix job, FPL spokesman Rob Gould said Saturday at a mid-day news conference.
Florida Power and Light said on its website that more than half of those outages were in the Miami-Dade area, where about 600,000 people have been ordered to evacuate.
So far, the brunt of the storm has affected Florida Power & Light's (FPL) customers in the southern and eastern sections of the state.
About 574,000 of those outages were in Miami-Dade County, while there were 360,000 in Broward and almost 136,000 in Palm Beach County.
