Scientists Discovered Black Hole: 100000 Times More Massive Than the Sun

The centre of the Milky Way 27 000 light-years away from Earth

Located near the clump of gas was a source of radio waves resembling those of Sagittarius A, the massive black hole at the center of the Milky Way, Science reports.

Intermediate mass black holes are considered to be the missing link with respect to the cosmic objects. The researchers spotted what appeared to be a huge cloud of gas behaving oddly in the interior of the Milky Way. Not at all like those that make up other interstellar mists, have the gasses in this cloud - including hydrogen cyanide and carbon monoxide - moved at fiercely different speeds.

According to computer models, the most likely cause was a black hole, not more than 1.4 trillion kilometres across.

"We know that smaller black holes form when some stars die, which makes them fairly common", she said.

Intermediate-sized black holes, on the other hand, have been eluded by astronomers and no evidence to prove their existence has been gathered. That's a little like a city that's home to only children and the elderly, with no one in between.

There is very good evidence that supermassive black holes (SMBHs) dominate the centres of many galaxies.

Recent research has shown supermassive black holes are essential to the creation of galaxies, stars - and even life itself. However, the origin of that black hole and the still-larger ultramassive black holes remains a mystery to scientists.

"The most exciting thing is the likelihood that intermediate mass black holes are real", Schawinski says.

Previously, NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, as well as NASA's NuSTAR and CSIRO's ATCA, have discovered tightly coupled black hole and white dwarf star with the smallest orbit in Milky Way.

It is too hard to see the black holes as they do not emit their light. Eventually, Oka explained to The Guardian, the object will sink toward Sagittarius A*, closer and closer, until it's swallowed up, increasing the mass of Sagittarius A* as it joins it at the heart of our galaxy.

Astronomers now think they have found one - a black hole 100,000 times more massive than the sun, lurking inside a gas cloud near the middle of the Milky Way.

Be that as it may, cosmologists likewise realize that substantially bigger, supermassive black holes lie at the core of galaxies including the Milky Way, where Sagittarius A* weighs as much as 4 million suns.

Professor Tomoharu Oka of Japan's Keio University believes that black holes with masses greater than a million solar masses are at the centre of all galaxies and are essential to their growth.

Theoretical studies have predicted 100 million to one billion black holes should exist in the Milky Way - but only 60 or so have been identified through observations so far.

But if there really is a large (but not supermassive) black hole hiding in our galaxy, it must have come from somewhere. Instead, the scientists suggest it is the former core of a dwarf galaxy that has been subsumed into the Milky Way, stripped of its stars, and is destined to one day fall into Sgr A*.

Prof Oka said: 'Further detection of such compact high-velocity features in various environments may increase the number of non-luminous black hole candidate and thereby increase targets to search for evidential proof of general relativity.
