Manchester City owners consider legal action over 'financial doping' comments

Tebas spoke to David Garrido in Manchester using a bizarre analogy to explain his point

"We can not let them get away with this", he said at the Soccerex conference in Manchester.

Speaking at SoccerEx, Tebas hit out at the behaviour of certain clubs when buying players from La Liga, and believes their accounts demonstrate what is at play.

"Mr Tebas's statements are ill-informed and in parts pure fiction", said City Football Group (CFG), which owns the Manchester club, in a statement to local media.

PSG, also under the ownership of wealthy Middle-Eastern backers, have themselves taken transfer spending to a new level this summer as they paid £198m for Brazilian forward Neymar and agreed to hand over £166m to sign Kylian Mbappe permanently next year.

Manchester City will not be investigated over Financial Fair Play rules, UEFA announced this week.

"Recently, Manchester City and Paris Saint-German, before that Chelsea, they have money that has not been created [by them] and have been able to get an advantage through this", he told reporters.

However, UEFA subsequently moved to clarify that City were not under investigation and called any reports stating otherwise "unsubstantiated". Each club spent more than 200 million pounds ($260.94 million) in the last transfer window.

City Football Group completed the purchase of 44.3 percent of the Liga club last month, and five of Pep Guardiola's players are spending the season at Girona: midfielder Douglas Luiz, winger Marlos Moreno, midfielder Aleix Garcia, full-back Pablo Maffeo and striker Olarenwaju Kayode.

The French professional football league immediately defended PSG and said only UEFA could rule on whether clubs met fair play rules. "If we don't control the situation the whole industry will become destructured". "Because there is a value coming from sponsorship outside of the market". It is not like I don't like PSG. They are not financial doping.

Neymar is one of the crown jewels in world football, both as a player and a commercial force, and neither Barcelona nor La Liga are happy that he was lured away against their will. "This is not football's market price, It's gas market price".

"I think the buyout is higher but if Nasser [Al-Khelaifi] wants them they can just open the pipes and afford them", Tebas conceded, referring to QSI's chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

He also said PSG, who signed Neymar from Barcelona for a world-record 222-million-euro ($264.74-million) fee in August, were "laughing at the system".
