Alexis Sanchez stays but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leaves Arsenal

Wenger faces testing end to transfer window

Oxlade-Chamberlain has signed a five-year deal with the Reds following a £35 million move from Premier League rivals Arsenal on deadline day.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was one of three major summer signings for Liverpool, who paid Roma just shy of £40m for Egyptian Mohamed Salah and agreed a club-record deal for RB Leipzig's Guinea midfielder Naby Keita, who will arrive next summer.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has attempted to explain why Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ended up leaving Arsenal after his deadline day transfer to Anfield.

Oxlade-Chamberlain will become Liverpool's second most expensive signing after Guinea worldwide Naby Keita put pen to paper for a 48 million Euros deal.

Oxlade-Chamberlain played against Klopp's Dortmund in the Champions League.

'I think he's already become a fantastic player, and that's the reason why we spent £35million on him, ' Gerrard said.

"He doesn't strengthen their team but what he does do is strengthen their squad. But I think he's a very, very positive signing".

Midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has joined Liverpool.

The new Liverpool signing hopes that he can fulfill his wish within Jurgen Klopp's team and build his reputation and likelihood of gaining a place in the England team for next years World Cup in Russian Federation.

In addition, Adam Lallana and Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho are still to return from injury and Carragher, while agreeing the 24-year-old adds depth, can not see him getting into the team in that spot.

Klopp added: "I hear a lot of talk about positions but let's talk about the player; he is someone with really good abilities who always gives everything for his team".

Chamberlain was linked with Liverpool last winter, and also some 6 summers ago when he was newly coming through the ranks as an impressive teenager at Southampton. "But Liverpool will take him out of his comfort zone".
