Android 8.0 is now officially Android Oreo

Google Nexus 6 Starts Getting Android 7.1.1 Nougat Update Again | Download Now

It has been in developer preview since May, with Google rolling out a release candidate in August.

You're free to make your own minds up but you've only got a couple of days to get your predictions finalized, because Android O is arriving on Monday, August 21. Google has been prepping up for the new iteration of Android for quite some time now, constantly releasing developer previews.

Android is the world's most widely used mobile operating system.

Android O will live stream solar eclipse.

The Android 8 release event will start at 2:40PM eastern time, which is when it is expected that the solar eclipse will be at its maximum in NY. Till now, Android versions have been named after dessert names, but Android experts feel that Google may break the tradition this time. The update brings a big revamp of the notification panel, with a new layout, colors, and features, like "snoozing". This feature makes the limit for background applications. Android O also comes with a multitude of back-end improvements such as better battery management algorithms, app optimisations, audio enhancements like improved Bluetooth audio and more. Hijacking the hype from today's total solar eclipse, Google chose to sync its Android Oreo launch with the celestial event, and now it's available for all - well, if your phone supports it, that is.

New notification dots have also been added which will flag when an app has an alert waiting to be addressed. Using this mode will allow users to browse their smartphone even when the YouTube app window is open.

At first, this feature will be in the English language in the United States.

Google says that by default, the previews are only going to play when users are on a Wi-Fi connection. Under this new feature on Android O, users will be able to block or change how the channels function individually.

The new leaked image that has been released recently, suggest that the Android O stands for Android Oreo.

This isn't the first time Google has partnered with a brand.
