Liverpool's owners: Coutinho is not for sale

Liverpool

Barca are eyeing the Liverpool ace as Neymar's replacement, and have launched multiple bids, with the latest one in the range of £90.4m, to obtain Coutinho's signature. The message was from Liverpool FC owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG). It's getting to the stage where if he doesn't want to be here, no player is bigger than Liverpool.

Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp has repeatedly said the club will not be selling the 25-year-old Coutinho, who has become a key player for the Premier League team and Brazil in recent years.

Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise has his say on Philippe Coutinho's transfer situation.

"Neymar has left for PSG but, despite his importance to the team, I believe Barca will deal with it", the former World Cup victor said to Betfair.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is now short of another midfielder, with Adam Lallana out injured for three months and now Coutinho unsettled.

But I don't think so because I think it was pretty clear what the club, FSG, said about it.

Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho controls the ball.

"We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho", read the statement on Liverpool's website on Friday morning.

The family member added: "There are things that have happened, there is not the same bond".

'It's hard now as he doesn't want to be there - Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world but he doesn't want to be there.

"That's the way I feel but the way I see it panning out is that the club will try as much as they can to keep him". "The rest is not for you, it is between me and all the boys, not just Phil".

Coutinho will not be available for selection at Vicarage Road due to a back injury, which will also make him a doubt for the first leg of the Champions League play-off against Hoffenheim on Tuesday.

Coutinho, who was Liverpool's leading scorer with 14 goals in all competitions last season, signed a new five-year deal in January. "I said there'd be a riot if he went and I still stand by that".
