Iranian President Vows to Improve Economy, Uproot Unemployment

New US sanctions on Iran not to end nuclear deal, expert says

President Rouhani delivers speech after endorsment of his second term by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi also warned that the "hostile" US measures would impact the implementation of the 2015 nuclear deal and said Tehran reserved the right to respond, according to state news agency IRNA.

Although the nuclear accord, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), lifted nuclear related sanctions against Iran, the benefits of the deal have been slow-to-come for many Iranians, as ordinary people argue that they have not felt it in their day-to-day lives.

Rouhani had won the presidential elections by a huge margin in May this year.

Khamenei, who has the last word on all major issues of state, formally endorsed Rouhani as president in a ceremony broadcast live on state television on Thursday, after the pragmatist romped to re-election on May 19.

Araqchi said Tehran's response would be "intelligent".

"We will certainly not fall into the trap of USA policy and Trump, and our reaction will be very carefully considered".

The move by Trump is likely to embolden his hardline critics, who say the nuclear deal was a form of capitulation.

"Some have sharply applied hostility (against Iran), like those who today are in office in the U.S.", Khamenei said, without mentioning Trump or the U.S. president's signing of the legislation on Wednesday. "Now in Iran, there is a growing debate if these sanctions violate [the nuclear deal] or not".

The law also imposed new sanctions on Russian Federation and North Korea.

However, Iran said earlier this week that it would lodge a complaint with the commission that oversees its implementation.

Tehran's pursuit of ballistic missiles, controversial nuclear program, support for proxies across the Middle East and fueling sectarian strife has gained widespread attention across the worldwide community. Russia, one of the five world powers that brokered the nuclear deal, has agreed with Tehran.

"We expect their continued adherence", Ray said when asked to comment on the Iranian charges.

At the start of the Trump Administration in January and February, US relations with Iran worsened after the Islamic Republic carried out ballistic missiles tests, and new US sanctions against Iran were announced.
