Victorious Jon Jones kisses defeated rival Daniel Cormier after UFC 214

Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar

- The Rock was in attendance at UFC 2014 and hung out with Jon Jones before and after Jones' fight. The second contest ended in favor of Jones who claimed the third-round knockout victory with head kick and punches.

As for what might be next for Jones, he didn't let the opportunity pass him by on the microphone. "They'd say no", White said.

A devastated Cormier was reduced to tears after the fight, with Jones quick to show his appreciation.

That was in Anaheim, Calif.

"Tonight was a big night".

- White: Tonight is trending over a million buys. "We surprised him with one, and it did the job". "Yeah, it's good to have [Jones] back". In the years since, booking the rematch came with its share of difficulty, but Jones delivered, taking home a Performance of the Night bonus. "This is the start to a new career, a new championship".

"I thought the fight was going well - I don't even know what happened", Cormier told UFC commentator Joe Rogan. "But he's, without a doubt, the best".

Jones won a decision over Ovince St Preux in UFC 197 in April previous year for the interim title. Outside of a lackluster fight vs Ovince Saint Preux, he has been largely invisible.

Understandably, Cormier was emotional post-fight as he was left with the bitter taste of a second defeat to Jones who remains the only man to beat him in MMA.

"I've always felt that way about Daniel, but it was spontaneous", Jones said. I felt like I stuck to the gameplan.

"He has been a model champion, a model husband, a model father, team-mate, leader".

In the weeks building up to the fight, Jones' mother passed away.

An uppercut knocked Jones' mouthpiece out, but it got it back in quickly. I'm not saying poor me at all. "I aspire to be more like that man. So it symbolizes the power of not giving up and making the decision of trying to do better and getting your life back". Then, in the octagon after the victory, he called out former UFC heavyweight champion and WWE Superstar Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar has been retired from UFC action since previous year, but he and Jones have been adding fuel to the potential they could fight. For one, Jones himself has said he's some 40 pounds lighter than Lesnar, and so he would obviously need to bulk up to get to the heavyweight division.

The hype for a potential Jon Jones vs. Brock Lesnar superfight isn't stopping any time soon.

"I got kicked in the head". I think it's a winnable fight.

Jones added, per Beacham: "We're serious about it, and it would be great for the MMA world".

Jon Jones reached the pinnacle of mixed martial arts and then fell harder than just about anyone ever had before.
